| Dixie Utility Company (DUC), is a small woman owned business has experience in the construction industry and is also qualified to perform professional engineering services. DUC, in the engineering arena is a fairly new corporation with over 120 years of combined experience. DUC’s lead professionals have numerous years of experience working for some of the major engineering consulting firms (Bechtel, Stone & Webster, PBSJ, URS Corporation, etc.). During their years of employed service with these major corporations, they have developed associations with many of the most qualified professionals in the industry that are either owners or experienced professionals with other consulting firms. These associations provide DUC the exceptional ability to assemble professionals specifically for the diverse required needs of a client. | |
| Some of the disciplines that DUC provides are: | |
| • Principal-In -Charge • Project Director • QA/QC Officer • Project Managers • Hydraulical Engineers • Hydrological Engineers • Civil Engineers • Coastal Engineers • Cost Estimators • Geotechnical Engineers • Economists • Biologists • Environmental Engineers • Geologists |
• Structural Engineers |
DUC has strong Project Management skills working on a variety of multi-disciplined projects, site civil experience, water and sewer systems, stormwater management, erosion control, planning, landscape architecture, paving/resurfacing, grading and drainage, demolition, permitting, CADD systems coordination, construction administration and construction related expertise with certified contractors on staff, as well as engineering professionals. DUC’s Civil Engineers have prepared site civil plans for both public and private clients where Pre-Development vs. Post-Development water quality and water quantity impacts are analyzed and erosion control plans (SWPPP) are prepared. Robert Zuccaro, P.E., DUC’s Vice President, also functions as Project Manager on many civil projects and is a Certified Erosion and Sedimentation Control Inspector with the State of Florida’s Department of Environmental Protection. This process is mandated by the Federal Clean Water Act and enforced by the USEPA through the various State’s Environmental Departments and is also part of LEED sustainable designated projects. DUC’s biologists have experience in determining the extent of jusrisdictional wetlands, threatened and endangered species surveys, tree surveys, mitigation plans, permitting and on-site monitoring during the construction of the mitigated areas. DUC’s geologists perform Phase I and I audits, perform sampling and analysis, tank removals and closures and CARs, Raps, etc DUC also has excellent expertise in CADD and GIS applications. CADD and GIS are complementary technologies that have evolved independently but in parallel, especially over the past 10 years. Currently, the interaction between CADD and GIS is so intense that as result we are able to provide value to our customers by building an effective and standardized linkage between both systems thru the use of ArcGIS, MicroStation, AutoCAD Map 3D, Land Desktop and Civil 3D. Both systems now offer a better set of tools that makes the integration of CADD/GIS data not just more efficient but also much faster in a commonly accepted geo-referencing environment. DUC typically develops a set of As-built documents from survey data collected at the site, from field visit and inspection sketches, upon completion of construction. DUC follows industry and client- specific requests or standards. We can field verify part or all of the data provided by the surveyor to ensure accuracy and for QA/QC purposes. All the engineering documents will be properly organized in compliance with client's requirements. DUC will use MicroStation V8 as the CADD platform for all the design and drafting activity. The overall resulting data can be submitted in its original format (to maintain integrity) and also can be converted in standard PDF format for a more efficient data exchange. DUC will coordinate with NAVFAC and obtain their current standard procedures and guidelines to ensure full compliance with their system. All the data submitted will be free of viruses, tested, validated and ready to use. DUC will also provide a full line of IT support for this project. We can perform the job using the requested CADD software (Microstation V8) in addition to other popular CADD and GIS applications. We can design and deploy a customized hardware and software infrastructure to accomplish the design work along with other associated engineering activities. Our CADD group (combined) will provide more that 50 years of working experience in the CADD technology and over 10 years in the GIS technology. Our CADD Group consists of senior CADD designers in the following areas: CADD/GIS Manager (Coordination and Supervision) |
